A Spot Tail Salmon Guide is the only guide service offering light tackle and saltwater fly fishing in the central Puget Sound area. At up to 45 MPH, the boat can reach several fishing areas quickly. Puget Sound offers some of the most spectacular surroundings for salmon fishing in the United States. Along with the mountains, sunrise and sunsets, you may have the opportunity to see bald eagles, seals, sea lions, otters, porpoise, killer whales & gray whales. With 26 years experience behind him, your guide knows the inner sound hot spots and will provide you with every opportunity to catch fish and learn about the art of fishing.

What's more, when you are done fishing, you're just a short, 12 minute drive back into Seattle's downtown area. Explore the restaurants, brewpubs, hotels, theatres and other establishments that make Seattle one of America's most livable cities!

What is Light Tackle Mooching?
Light Tackle Mooching is a fun hands on active light tackle fishery. You will actually be "working" the bait at different depths.

For those that like to cast, feel the bite, hold their own rod and set there own hook.

Most of the time the salmon stop the bait on the drop and you have to reel as fast as you can to catch up to them as they run toward the surface.

If you like looking at your rod in the rod holder this is not for you. It's a little more work but a lot more fun.

By the time you get off the you'll be a "moocher."

What is Saltwater Flyfishing?
It's just like the freshwater, casting and stripping. This is not a beginner fishery. The further you cast the more fish you will catch. We fish shorelines (two to ten feet of water) and tide rips. We target sea-run cutthroat trout year round and different species of salmon (coho, humoback, chum, chinook) depending on the season. The fish are mostly trout size 10-22 inches and occasionally you make a mistake and catch something five to twenty pounds. We fish six and seven weight rods, floating and sinking lines, baitfish imitations, attractor patterns, and topwater waking or popping flies. It's great fun and if you like flyfishing it's a must to add to your life list.

All fish that are caught are released.
